Te Ao Earth Student Day

22nd of September 2023 across schools and University of Canterbury, Ōtautahi Christchurch

Students driving action for our future.

Witness the power of collective aciton during Te Ao Earth Week with Canterubry Unviersity, Rudolf Steiner School, Papanui High School, Te Pā o Rākaihautu School, and Villa Maria College plant over 600 native trees on 22nd September 2023.  This collaborative effort to support the environment and celebrate the Spring Equinox will contribute to our rapidly expanding restoration activities in the region.

Together, we’re cultivating a greener, more sustainable future for our planet.  Be part of this impactful initiative and help restore the Earth for generations to come.

Te Ao Earth Nature Weekend

23rd + 24th of September 2023 across Greater Ōtautahi Christchurch

Get out in nature and celebrate Spring!

Join in the outdoor fun across the region and embrace nature in a variety of ways including markets, eco-workshops, walking hidden trails, waterway clean-ups, and spring ocean swims!  There is something for everyone over the weekend – click on the links below .

🌿🌏 23rd Sept World Rivers Day on the Ōtākaro Avon River, 10am-2pm, 230 Cambridge Tce, Christchurch Central

A family fun day out to celebrate our waterways and learn what you can do in your own home to help improve the health of our rivers.  Right across the road from the Margaret Mahy Playround, in and around the Edmonds Band Rotunda. There will be entertainment in the Band Rotunda during the whole event, food trucks, loads of fun kids activities, interesting information and regular tours of the Ōtākaro Orchard

🌿🤸🏽‍♀️ 23rd Sept Christchurch Envirokids, 10am – 1pm, Kiosk, City Botanic Gardens, free entry.
Soil: Where Our Food Comes From. Roger McLenaghen, a soil scientist from Lincoln University will share his knowledge on soil in fun & interactive ways!

🌿🪴 24th Sept Climate Action Campus Open Day + Market 10am-2pm, 180 Avonside Drive, Christchurch

Spring Market


Visit the Climate Action Campus, meet the chickens, get some food and stroll the Market stalls.  Lots of seedlings and house plants for sale, crafts, food and an amazing garden raffle.

🌿🌊 24th Sept Early Morning Ocean Swim, 8am Sumner Beach, 301 Main Road, next to the surf life saving building. (If catching bus, number 3 leaves Ilam road at the University of Canterbury at 7:21am)

🌿🖐️ 24th Sept Qi Gong in the Park, 11am Hansen’s Park – opposite Te Ara Sophia, 275 Fifield Tce, Opawa.
